Banko Dhadhato is a washed coffee from Ethiopia's Gedeo Zone, produced by 755 smallholder farmers who cultivate family-owned farms intercropped with native shade plants, fruits, and enset. Since joining the YCFCU cooperative in 2013, these farmers have adhered to fair trade practices and organic certifications. Grown at high altitudes in volcanic soils, the coffee cherries mature slowly, resulting in a sweet and vibrant cup with bright notes that reflect the natural richness of the land. After handpicking at peak ripeness, the cherries are sorted, depulped, fermented overnight, washed, and sun-dried on raised tables, yielding flavors of juicy peach, silky milk chocolate, and a subtle hint of Earl Grey

Since 2013, Desta Gola has been cultivating coffee as his main source of income to support his family. Through the Single Farmer Lots Program, he’s been able to improve both the quality and sustainability of his farming practices, ensuring a more direct and meaningful return for his hard work. His coffee is processed with precision at the Adame Garbota Cooperative, where careful hand-sorting and traditional washing techniques result in a clean and balanced cup.
The result is a coffee that offers a vibrant expression of Ethiopian terroir, crafted with care and expertise. Whether you're familiar with washed Ethiopian coffees or exploring them for the first time, Desta Gola’s single-producer lot is a standout choice that celebrates the skill and heritage of coffee production.
