Las Flores farm began in 1990 and was founded by Edilberto Vergara and Nubia Ayure, both children of coffee growers from Cundinamarca. The farm has a size of 16 hectares, and only 2 hectares were cultivated for coffee. In 1998, the farm was already fully coffee cultivated. By this time, a family is already form with 5 children. In 2006, Jhoan's mother took the initiative to compete in the Cup of Excellence and was ranked 16th. This was the moment that she took the first steps to explore the great world of specialty coffee. Years later, she sadly passed away and left her children with a very important legacy. This is when they started to ask themselves many questions, such as how to improve the quality of the coffee and where the market will bring them. Jhoan was given the task of investigating and he learned more practical knowledge on coffee-related issues. Already immersed in the subject of quality, Jhoan and his brothers, Carlos and Diego, decided to take the next step. They started to develop replicable profiles to be able to highlight the potential of each variety. Carlos adn Diego are now in charge of processing, fermentation and drying. Jhoan is responsible to analyse the experiments and judge the quality. They have together been able to design diffrent processes such a natural, honey and washed, highlighting each characteristic of each variety. In 2019, Jhoan participated in the Master of Coffee contest in the coffee grower category, and won 1st place out of 162 partcipants with a semi-washed Pink Bourbon. This achievement made them believe they are on the right track and motivates them to improve and always create excellent coffee.
