Gathambi is part of Mwirua Farmers’ Cooperative Society, established in 1954. Many members tend just a few hundred coffee trees, bringing their harvests together through the cooperative for processing and sale.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAt Gathambi, cherries are carefully sorted, pulped and graded by density before fermentation. The coffee is then washed, soaked in fresh water and dried slowly on raised beds for 8–14 days.
